I mentioned in an earlier post that I've gained a new interest in quilting. If you stop by the new blog (still in the process of getting going) Discovering This and That you'll see the two rag quilts I did, one for each of my granddaughters. Anyway, I started a more elaborate one. Now when I say "elaborate" I don't mean a quilt with tons of tiny squares and intricate blocks. Right now "elaborate" to me means anything more complex than a strip quilt - LOL
But ............I really am proud of my accomplishment. So far I've completed 2 rows and all the corners and measurements are matching just perfect! Taking the extra time to measure twice and cut once is certainly worth the effort. Here is a pic of some of the blocks so far. It's a typical 9 square block and each is going to have a trim around it. It's a twin size quilt for my granddaughter Lilly. Heck, who needs to spend all the money on the pretty quilts at Pottery Barn Kids when you can make one yourself at a quarter of the cost!

| This pic really does not do the colors justice. |
Putting my sewing machine to work and creating something that will provide warmth is a relaxing and rewarding activity. Not to mention it's a great way to spend snowy winter days.
